Marvin received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Master of Science Degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. He later received his Doctoral Degree in the Discipline of Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University. Integral parts of his study included Substance Abuse, Multiculturalism, Community Agency Counseling and Supervision.

Marvin is currently employed by North Carolina A&T State University in the Department of Psychology; in addition he serves as an Adjunct Professor at a local community college. He has founded his own consulting company, MCH Consultants. He is in demand as a keynote speaker and facilitator of various seminars and workshops.

Marvin has been recognized both nationally and internationally, receiving awards of excellence on numerous occasions. Nationally, Marvin has been recognized in Who's Who in America as a Professor of Psychology on five separate occasions. Internationally, the Biographical Centre, Cambridge England selected him as one of the Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st century.

Recently, Marvin completed a three-year Post-Doctoral program in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was nominated and selected as a lifetime member of the Outstanding Student Honor Society out of Sunnyvale, California. The Outstanding Student Honor Society is a National Honor Society devoted to the recognition of outstanding leadership, community services, and academic excellence.

Marvin is married to Chris Hall, a retired Flight Attendant who is now a Real Estate Broker who owns her own Real Estate Company. Marvin and Chris are the providers of training for Biblical Counselors at Mount Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro, where they also serve as Deacons.
